I lost my motivation to succeed when I started reading romance novels as a teenager. They gave me what I wanted from life - romance, a rich life, happiness.
This is what I exactly what I wanted from life:
- Love (including romance)
- A rich life (to be very rich both money-wise and personally)
- To be independant (to be able to go anywhere whenever I want to)
- To be great at something
These are the things I wanted in my life and the romance novels offered me these in abundance. I was able to create a symbiotic relationship with the characters in the books and enjoy the rich life, the grand affairs, the overarching emotions and the very happy endings.
I lost my marbles all those years ago. Now I have found them again. I found brief pleasure in my escapist, unreal world with the help of those romance novels. Now I will find success in the real world!
